HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Cirque du Soleil’s first resident production in Hawaii called ‘Auana opens Dec. 5 at the Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel — and guests can choose to get the VIP treatment.
‘Auana features acts inspired by Hawaiian stories blended with Cirque du Soleil’s world-renowned artistry and acrobatics. Show director Neil Dorward worked with a Native Hawaiian creative team, including Dr. Aaron Salā, Manaola Yap, Kumu Hula Hiwa Vaughan and Keao NeSmith.
Starting Dec. 18, guests can add on a VIP experience ticket, which includes island-inspired dishes, locally-crafted beers, wines, seltzers and craft cocktails from the Maui Brewing Company (MBC) during a 90-minute reception in a private open-air lounge.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to interact with some of the ‘Auana cast members and view exclusive video content while enjoying their meal. The VIP experience begins at 7 p.m. before each 8:30 p.m. show and at 4 p.m. before the 5:30 p.m. shows on Saturday and Sunday.
Martha Seroogy, of Cirque du Soleil ‘Auana, MBC Sous Chef Tommy Oesterreich and Max Jones, assistant GM overseeing MBC operations for ‘Auana, joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about the special experience.
Oesterreich showcased two dishes from the VIP menu, including Mahi Mahi tostadas featuring grilled mahi topped with avocadocrema, smoky chipotle salsa, crunch salad, papaya and radish, and lobster bao, topped with curry-lemon vinaigrette, crunchy Thai salad and gochujang mayo.
As Cirque du Soleil’s official concessionaire, Maui Brewing Company will have three brand-new bars outside the Outrigger Theatre, two just outside the showroom and one on the lobby level. All show attendees can buy beer, wine and snacks at any of the locations.
